Basic Forum Etiquette Tips
One of the things that forum administrators and members truly hate are spammers. Yes, even forum sites are oftentimes flooded by spam. If you join a forum, make sure that you’re doing it for good reasons, perhaps to help others or to post your own questions so others can be of help. You must be aware of forum etiquette. Here are some of the basics:
Don’t post spammy threads
One of the important tips for forum etiquette is to avoid posting spammy threads. Many people join forums in order for them to share relevant experiences or get helpful ideas. But spammy threads are neither relevant nor helpful. They only take up so much space. Aside from this, spammy threads can also give new members the wrong impression about the forum and the community itself. If you don’t have something good to say about a certain topic or if you don’t have relevant questions in mind, it’s better that you don’t post at all. You have to make sure that the things you write on the forum are related to the topic. Avoid posting the same messages and making non-sense or offensive posts that will get you banned. Best of all, use a language that’s suitable for the type of forum community you are joining.
Keep in mind the audience type when writing your thread
When you create a thread, you have to consider the audience too. Who would be reading the posts? What type of audience is that? Would readers be interested in what I have to say? You have to use words that would easily be understood by other forum members. This way, members of the forum can easily relate to you. Also make sure that your posts won’t offend the members or put off readers.
Although people don’t see you when making forum posts, it is important that you maintain proper etiquette when starting your threads or commenting on other posts. Don’t be one of those people who pester forum members by posting spammy threads . A forum is a tool used by people to share knowledge and spread information. If you haven’t got anything to do, you should not waste your time posting spam.
