How you can use your webcam to migrate to the USA or Canada

Filed under Commentary, December 18th, 2011 by Opportunity Lister

If your main reason for wanting to pack your bags and move to the USA is to seek the proverbial greener pastures, chances are, you would want to make sure you have a job waiting for you there.

With technology evolving so quickly these days, it’s much easier to achieve this precautionary step towards your new life as an immigrant.  There is a plethora of information on the worldwide web about the kind of jobs available in many different countries, for both skilled and unskilled workers.  If you’re lucky, you can even find a potential employer who is willing to go a step further by sponsoring you and assisting you in the processing of your documents. If your qualifications interest them enough, they’ll go that extra mile for you.

A computer with a webcam can come in very handy at the point where you need to be interviewed by those who are keen on hiring you.  A lot of prospective employers settle for either a phone call or a video chat, to size you up.  After all, the United States is not just a hop, skip and a jump away.  So if you don’t have a webcam or have never seen the need for one, I suggest you go out and grab your first unit immediately.

They say that first impressions last.  Having spent many years in the corporate world and interviewing numerous applicants, I have found this to be true.  Your webcam will be the key tool in giving your future employer a glimpse into your personality.  Your written application can say a lot about you as well.  But there’s nothing like a face to face encounter to help give your application that extra push it might need.

In the same breath, you would also want to see who it is you’re dealing with, right?  Doing a webcam interview could prove to be a mutually beneficial exercise.  It may even hasten the entire application process by allowing the prospective employer to converse with you at any given time.

Honestly, I don’t see any significant downside to using your webcam for this work purposes.  In fact, I’ve named only pros and no cons so far. It really is the most convenient way to get connected and get things done quickly. I, for one, am on my 3rd webcam to date.
