Online jobs: Yay or Nay?

More and more people are in search of online jobs nowadays.  Whether as a secondary or main source of income, technology now plays a major role in helping people find the means to earn.  Such jobs are popular largely amongst those who spend more time at home than in an office environment.  Turning idle time in the home into productive hours that yield extra Pesos (or in some cases, Dollars) is a no-brainer.  But while I see a proliferation of opportunities to earn online, I’ve also come across some bad reviews on certain websites. In fact, some of these reviews will tell interested parties not to purse them, because they are mere scams.

As a stay-at-home Mom, I’ve decided that doing online work will not hurt at all.  It will only do so if I end up wasting my time doing work for someone who’s just out to scam me.  So I’ve made a strict mental note to go through some steps before I venture forward.

GO TO A TRUSTED FORUM – a forum is an online community where people interact on a daily basis. Here, you can find a variety of topics ranging from the shallow to significant.  I’ve personally discovered many things just by lurking in public forums. But it has its disadvantages, too.  It’s also a venue for scammers to do their thing.  I take my time and read posts with caution.  If I find something that interests me, I first ask the necessary questions before jumping into anything. I also use my gut feel when deciding which ads to respond to.

RESEARCH and INVESTIGATE – a lot of those who advertise online jobs will provide a website/url for someone to browse through, to appease the mind.  When this is possible, I go to that website and read everything in it that pertains to the kind of work being offered.  It’s really just like any ordinary office job, where a candidate is allowed to ask as many questions as possible to find out more about the work involved, the company, the environment.  I’m entitled to know everything there is to know so if the information is provided in a legitimate website, I’m sure to take advantage of the opportunity to learn.
The bottomline is to be very cautious with every step.  Online jobs can be fulfilling, if you know you’ve chosen the right one.
